Welcome to A Taste of Bendigo - Frida Edition, an immersive 2.5-hour guided walking tour that invites you to celebrate and savour the gastronomic delights of Bendigo, Australia’s first UNESCO City and Region of Gastronomy.

This unique tour combines delicious local cuisine with colourful tales of Frida Kahlo and celebrates the chefs, restaurateurs and producers who shape Bendigo’s thriving food culture. Designed for those who relish great food, fine drinks, and engaging storytelling, you'll visit four exceptional venues in Bendigo's culinary heart. Each stop not only showcases mouthwatering flavours but also tells a story about the community, the creativity, and the culinary excellence that make Bendigo a must-visit destination.

Your Gastronomic Journey:

Ms Batterhams – Taco & Cider

Your journey begins in the stylish basement of the historic All Saints School at Ms Batterhams. Known for its elegance and charm, this venue adopts a festive Mexican twist during Fiesta Bendigo. Here, you'll savour a delicious, flavour-packed taco paired perfectly with a crisp Harcourt cider, setting the stage for an afternoon of culinary delight.

Wine Bank on View – Wine Tasting & Tostada

Next, you’ll experience the grandeur of the majestic 1870s Union Bank, now the renowned Wine Bank on View. Here, a wine connoisseur will guide you through a tasting of three specially selected regional wines, each sip complemented by an enticing prawn tostada, crafted to celebrate Fiesta Bendigo. The experience highlights the exceptional produce and refined culinary skills found in Bendigo.

Bendigo Brewing – Beer Tasting & Frida-Inspired Pizza

Your third stop leads you into the hidden gem of Bendigo Brewing, situated in the vibrant historic Chinese precinct. Known for small-batch craft beers brewed with local ingredients and their distinctive house yeast, 'Venus,' this boutique brewery offers a curated beer tasting experience. To complement your tasting, indulge in a slice of wood-fired pizza inspired by the vibrant flavours of Mexico, creatively crafted in honour of Frida Kahlo.

The Dispensary – Taco & Tequila Tasting

The tour concludes at The Dispensary, nestled in Chancery Lane with its cosy, charming, and character-rich atmosphere. This venue’s bold approach to flavour shines as you taste a succulent lamb taco, paired impeccably with a tequila tasting. Your senses will be further enriched by the fascinating folk tale of Mayahuel, the Aztec Goddess of the Agave plant, ensuring a captivating and memorable finish to your afternoon.

Throughout the tour, Frida Kahlo’s spirit is beautifully interwoven, adding artistic flair and colourful anecdotes from her extraordinary life. Whether you're a fan of Frida, a foodie, or simply looking for a unique afternoon in Bendigo, this tour promises an engaging, intimate, and delicious adventure.
